New golf course will be opened in Kuusamo!

The official opening ceremonies of Kuusamo Golf 18 holes golf course will be celebrated on 31.8.2013 and the new course will be open for golfers 2.9.2013!

Golf landed in Kuusamo area in the end of 1980's when a 9 hole course was built near Rukajärvi in Ruka area. Plans for a new, larger golf course were made in the year 2000 and the permission for building was granted 2009. First construction work was made in June 2011. And now it's ready!

Kuusamo Petäjäkangas golf course was planned by Mika Lindroos. The project is estimated to cost altogether 3 Meur. The course is located in a beautiful rugged pine forest. The historically valuable sites from WWII are restored as part of the course. The growth of the grass has been consulted by Scotch specialists. Irrigation system uses the cooling waters of local cheese dairy.

Kuusamo Golf Course par is 72 and the total length is 5750 meters from (yellow tee).
”The layout and implementation of the course have impressed players and golf course designers alike. There are four large natural ponds in the golf course area. Together with the variable terrain, the impression is unforgettable.  The bunkers and trenches of WWII are clearly visible, making this truly a unique course", comments Kyösti Salmirinne, the manager of Kuusamo Golf Ltd.

Kuusamo Golf Course is funded by the town of Kuusamo, Holiday Club Resorts Ltd and over 100 share holders. The innovative irrigation system is partly EU funded.

Kuusamo Golf Course will be officially opened in 31.8.2013 at 10.00 (by invitation only).
